What should I do first?

Ahead of or at the end of their training, most people tell us they’ll “play around” with the platform, but don’t know what to do first.

The best way you can set yourself up for success is by starting on your main use case – have a look below to see the section that best describes what you’re trying to achieve!

Within the section, you’ll see key areas of the platform you’ll need to use, and some case studies, sharing how other firms have seen success!

🔬 Running Company Due Diligence // Company Research

Research companies quickly and comprehensively, to get better insights and save time

  • Explore Company Profiles
    • Learn about what data we have, and where you can find it
      ​
    • Some good companies to start with:
  • Export your first Company PDF
    • On a company profile, click “PDF” in the top right, to get a summary / taxi sheet for the organisation!
    • Share these with colleagues – Good data should be shared!

  • Monitor them with collections
    • Add interesting companies to a collection – for more on the benefits of collections, see this article!

Find ideal fit opportunities, to reach out to in a tailored and timely manner.

The best thing to do, is build your first search!

  • Set up your first search, to get the feel of adding on criteria, tweaking the filters and getting the ideal results.
    ​

Here are some example searches you can begin from:

Or, here are some key filters to start with:

  • Companies House > Companies House Status = active. This guarantees the company is still trading!
  • Location
  • Signals (why a company is interesting)
    ​
  • Industries and Buzzwords (what sector a company sits within / what they do)
    ​
  • Financials
    • Employee Count
    • Turnover
    • EBITDA (a measure of profitability)
    • Cash
      ​
  • Funding Received > Secured fundraising where...
    • (from here, you can be more specific, eg. in the past 6 months, at this valuation, for this amount, from this funder…)
      ​

You can also see what others within your subscription have built already:

  • Have a look under their Saved Search templates, found in Advanced Search, under the Open search button in the top right
    ​

  • Or instead have a look at the Collections they’ve saved – if they built them from an Advanced Search, and kept them “live” by turning on Auto-add, then you’ll be able to see the search criteria running behind it in the Settings tab.

Once you’ve set up your first search, you can then do the following:

Quickly gather in-depth key information, in one place, on the entities and events you care about

The best place to start would be to search for people, funds and transactions you know of, or are interested in, or instead take a look at some good examples:

Prove the impact of your work, build deeper relationships, and improve retention

The best thing to do first would be to get your first collection set up with tailored alerts.

To set up your first collection, you can either upload a CSV or copy and paste a list you have to hand.

From here, you can see Statistics about these companies, Map them out, or Export key data on them.

📊 Gathering Market Trends and Insights // Creating Thought Leadership Content

Find key trends to stay ahead of competition, prove your expertise, and inform your strategy

The best place to begin here would be having a look at the data we have, and how we present it!
One of the best places to do this would be Explore – this has data and aggregate insights on all high-growth businesses in the UK.

Another good place to look would be the Statistics tab – this can be accessed from either Advanced Search or Collections.

Equally, you can draw inspiration from colleagues and what work they’ve done, either by looking at their Saved Searches in Advanced Search that they’ve chose to share, or instead by looking at their shared Collections.

🔁 Share Information with Colleagues // Export Key Data // Update your CRM

Share key data internally, export key insights to analyse, and keep your systems up to date, rather than trying to chase hard-to-find or shallow data
​

The best way to begin would be exporting data of interest for yourself!

Start by going onto a company profile, and click PDF in the top right, to receive a summary PDF for that organisation.
​

To look at what data we have in CSVs, export your first CSV from a Collection or Advanced Search.
