Top 50 Assistivetech Companies in the UK | 2026
UK assistivetech companies raised £38.4m across 24 deals in 2024 — the sector’s all-time peak — followed by a still-strong £23.0m in 2025 across 23 deals. The peak arrived later than in almost every other sector we’ve analysed, where 2021 or 2022 typically marked the high water mark. In total, assistivetech companies in the UK have raised £169m across all equity fundraisings tracked by Beauhurst, with 78% of that total arriving since the start of 2020.
We’ve ranked the top 50 assistivetech companies by total equity raised (all data sourced from the Beauhurst platform).
An overview of the assistivetech sector
Assistivetech covers companies developing technology and products that help people with disabilities, chronic conditions, neurodivergence, or age-related impairments live more independently. UK assistivetech companies span wearable medical devices for neurological conditions, accessibility software for websites and live communication, mobility products (wheelchairs, stairlifts, prosthetics, walking aids), independent living platforms for older adults, sensory aids for vision and hearing, neurodiversity tools for ADHD and dyslexia, and care coordination apps.
Beauhurst tracks 224 active assistivetech companies in the UK, up from 128 in the final quarter of 2015 — a 75% increase over the decade and one of the slower growth rates in our sector series. Together, these companies generated £1.44b in turnover according to latest financials and support an estimated 9,596 employees across the UK. Across all time, assistivetech companies have raised £169m in equity funding tracked on the platform, with 2024 (£38.4m) marking the sector’s peak and 2025 (£23.0m) its second-strongest year.
Key findings
- Charco Neurotech tops the ranking with £16.3m raised. The East of England-based company develops a wearable device that aims to reduce the physical symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, and accounts for 9.6% of all UK assistivetech equity raised to date.
- Recite Me (£9.75m, North East) takes second place in website accessibility software, followed by Ingenion Medical (£7.82m, London) in urological devices, Grid Smarter Cities (£7.06m, North East), and GyroGear (£5.72m, London). The top five account for 28% of sector equity.
- London hosts 14 of the top 50 — the lowest London share of any top 50 we’ve measured. The North East comes second with six, and the top 50 spans 13 UK regions including all four nations, making assistivetech the most distributed digital top 50 in the series.
- The top 50 collectively raised £106m — 63% of the sector’s total, the lowest top 50 share we’ve measured. Seven of the 50 are zombie or dead, the highest troubled rate in the series, pointing to a difficult commercialisation environment for niche assistive products.
Methodology
To be included in this list of assistivetech companies, companies must be:
- Headquartered in the UK
- Operating in the ‘AssistiveTech’ Beauhurst industry classification
- Listed as ‘Active’ on Companies House

The future of assistivetech in the UK
UK assistivetech company formations have slowed sharply in recent years — from a peak of 16 new businesses in 2017 to just four in 2025 — yet investment figures have moved in the opposite direction, with 2024 (£38.4m) marking the sector’s all-time peak and 2025 (£23.0m) its second-strongest year on record. The first quarter of 2026 has opened slowly with just £790,000 raised, leaving open the question of whether 2024-2025 represents a new structural level or a single bumper period. Either way, capital is now concentrating on fewer, more credible later-stage businesses rather than fanning out across a growing pipeline.
Several structural tailwinds suggest the demand side of this equation is only strengthening. The UK’s ageing population, growing recognition of neurodiversity in workplaces and education, and the rising regulatory pressure on digital accessibility compliance all point to durable demand for the technologies these companies build. Charco Neurotech (£16.3m) and Brain in Hand (£4.98m) are already scaling neurological-care products into the NHS and care-provider markets, Recite Me (£9.75m) is expanding its accessibility-compliance footprint as digital-services regulations tighten, and a younger cohort of AI-enabled entrants — MEGI Health’s virtual health assistant, Neuro Notion’s ADHD companion, Line 21 and AccessLOOP in live captioning — points to where the next wave of formations is likely to cluster.
With this in mind, it’s possible that — depending on broader economic conditions and the durability of recent funding levels — assistivetech enters its second decade as a more concentrated but better-capitalised sector, where the recent slowdown in new incorporations gives way to a fresh cohort of AI-native and ageing-population-focused entrants in the next few years. The capital has arrived ahead of the next wave of founders; whether the founders follow will define the rest of the decade.

Assistivetech refers to technology and products that help people with disabilities, chronic conditions, neurodivergence, or age-related impairments live more independently. UK AssistiveTech companies span wearable medical devices for neurological conditions, accessibility software for websites and live communication, mobility products (wheelchairs, stairlifts, prosthetics, walking aids), independent living platforms for older adults, sensory aids for vision and hearing, neurodiversity tools for ADHD and dyslexia, and care coordination apps.
London is home to the largest number of top 50 assistivetech companies with 14, followed by the South East (seven), the North East (six), the North West (four), and the East of England, South West, West of Scotland, and Yorkshire and The Humber (three each). The top 50 spans 13 UK regions including all four nations, and London’s 28% share is the lowest of any top 50 we’ve measured.
The number of active UK assistivetech companies has grown 75% over the past decade, from 128 in the final quarter of 2015 to 224 today — one of the slower growth rates in our sector series. However, fundraising has accelerated recently, with 2024 (£38.4m) marking the sector’s all-time peak and 2025 (£23.0m) its second-strongest year.
UK assistivetech companies operate across a wide range of sub-fields including wearable medical devices for Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions, website and live-communication accessibility software, mobility products (electric wheelchairs, foldable scooters, prosthetics, stairlifts, walking aids), independent living and care coordination platforms for older adults, sensory aids for visually and hearing-impaired users, sign-language translation tools, and neurodiversity support apps for ADHD and dyslexia.
Yes. The ranking includes companies at all stages of evolution. Within the top 50, venture-stage companies are the largest group with 19 entries, followed by seed-stage (14), growth-stage (five), established (four), zombie (four), dead (three), and one exited.
