EIS 30th Anniversary
30 Years of the EIS: Driving Investment into Startups
In partnership with the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA), we explore how the EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) has transformed the UK startup ecosystem, driving innovation, job creation, and regional development for three decades.
This report explores the trends in EIS-backed funding since the scheme was established, including the impact of funding on job creation and turnover. Since 1994, the scheme has attracted £32.0b in investment, supporting over 56.0k UK companies. These businesses have collectively generated £192b in turnover between 2014 and 2023, including £28.2b in 2023 alone.
Explore further in this report, where we also cover the total grant funding secured by these companies, the top-funded regions across the UK, and the broader influence of the EIS on the startup ecosystem.
