Top 100 Agritech Companies in the UK | 2026
UK agritech companies raised £367m in 2025 — the biggest year on record for the sector, and the clearest sign yet that investor appetite for agricultural innovation has survived the wider late-stage slowdown. In total, agritech companies in the UK have raised £1.64b across all equity fundraisings tracked by Beauhurst.
We’ve ranked the top 100 agritech companies by total equity raised (all data sourced from the Beauhurst platform).
What is agritech?
Agritech — short for agricultural technology — covers the application of science, software, and hardware to farming, food production, and land use. It spans everything from vertical farms and gene-edited crops to livestock monitoring software, biopesticides, and soil carbon measurement.
Beauhurst tracks 250 active agritech companies in the UK, up from 52 in the final quarter of 2015 — a 380% increase over the decade. Together, these companies have raised £1.64b, with £1.23b of that arriving since 2020 (75% of the sector’s all-time total). The 35 companies reporting full financials generated £3.09b in turnover, and the sector supports an estimated 10,396 employees across the UK.
Key findings
- Benchmark Holdings tops the ranking with £348m raised. The South East-based group runs subsidiaries including FAI Farms and FAI Agriculture, specialising in food production technology. Its 21% share of all UK agritech equity is one of the most concentrated top positions across the sectors we’ve analysed.
- Oxbury (£241m, North West) takes second place as an agricultural bank for UK farmers, followed by Tropic (£139m, East of England) in crop gene editing, CycleØ (£110m, London) in agricultural waste-to-energy, and Intelligent Growth Solutions (£103m, Tayside) in vertical farming. The top five alone account for 57% of all equity raised in UK AgriTech.
- London hosts 27 of the top 100 — one of the lower London shares across our sector series — followed by the East of England (15), South East (13), and South West (10). Scotland accounts for 14 companies across Tayside, East of Scotland, and West of Scotland. The top 100 spans 13 UK regions, tied with edtech for the broadest regional spread of any sector in our series.
- Venture-stage businesses dominate the top 100 (53), followed by seed-stage (25) and growth-stage (12), with only four established companies and one exited business — a profile that reflects agritech's relative youth and the long commercialisation timelines of crop science and farming infrastructure. By contrast, adtech’s top 100 has 25 established companies and 16 exited businesses.
- The top 100 collectively raised £1.53b — 93% of the sector’s all-time total.
Methodology
To be included in this list of edtech companies, companies must be:
- Headquartered in the UK
- Operating in the ‘AgriTech’ Beauhurst industry classification
- Listed as ‘Active’ on Companies House
We’ve then ranked these companies by total equity raised.
And if you’re a Beauhurst subscriber, you can try this search for yourself.
All data for the analysis was taken from the Beauhurst platform, and is accurate as of 15 April 2026.
All data for the ranking list was taken from the Beauhurst platform, and is automatically updated weekly.

The future of agritech in the UK
New agritech company formations held steady in the early 2020s, with between 21 and 26 new businesses founded each year from 2018 to 2024 — a consistency that marks out a sector whose pipeline of new entrants has neither boomed nor collapsed with the wider funding cycle. Investment trajectory tells a different story: 2025 produced the biggest annual total the sector has ever seen at £367m, comfortably ahead of the previous high of £261m in 2023. 2026 has opened more cautiously with £47.8m raised through the first quarter, though large late-stage rounds have a tendency to land in the later months of the year.
Controlled-environment agriculture remains one of agritech’s most well-funded themes, with vertical and hydroponic farming operators including Intelligent Growth Solutions, Fischer Farms, LettUs Grow, Harvest London, and FlexFarming all featuring in the top 100. The model’s economics are still being tested, but investor willingness to back energy-efficient, land-light food production has held up through successive funding cycles. Alongside it, gene editing and plant science continue to attract capital — Tropic’s rise to third place on £139m makes the case most clearly, with Resurrect Bio, Phytoform, Glaia, and Biographica pursuing related approaches to crop improvement, pest resistance, and yield optimisation.
A second major theme is the convergence of agritech with sustainability and carbon markets. Agricarbon UK, Loamin, BX, and Rhizocore Technologies are among the top 100 companies focused on soil carbon measurement, carbon offset enablement, and regenerative forestry — a direct response to farmers increasingly being asked to quantify and monetise environmental outcomes alongside food production. Insect protein and food waste conversion form a third distinct cluster, with Better Origin, Entocycle, Flybox, and Inspro all working on transforming organic waste into animal feed, fertiliser, or biofuel. Together these themes suggest agritech is evolving from a narrow crop-and-livestock productivity play into something closer to the commercial infrastructure of the food-and-land economy — and the scale of 2025’s fundraising total suggests investors are increasingly comfortable paying to back that thesis.
