Angel investment is a vital source of risk capital for early-stage businesses. This report builds on the 2022 Angel Insights study, produced in collaboration with the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA), to explore how the angel landscape has evolved over the past decade.
Between 2015 and H1 2025, female angels participated in £4.11bn of equity investment deals—despite representing just 14% of the overall angel market.
Over the same period, women angels backed 6,595 companies, marking a 58.9% increase since the 2022 report.

There are now just over 8,000 women angel investors in the UK, defined as women with at least two shareholdings in equity-backed businesses.
Women angels have contributed a total of £1.76b in investments since 2015.
Companies backed by women angels have created over 14,550 jobs since 2022.
Only 2.44% of women angels hold shares in five or more companies.
Women make up 14.1% of the UK’s angel investor population.

His previous role was with an economic consultancy who specialise in providing socio-economic research and analysis to support infrastructure and transport projects. He holds an MSc in economics from the University of Bristol and a BSc from the University of Leeds.
