There are currently 599 active private equity and venture capital funds in the UK, per Beauhurst data. Those funds are run by 532 fund managers, with several managers operating more than one fund, often across different stages and mandates.
Between them they have participated in 14,443 fundraisings in UK companies since 2011.
Every figure in this guide comes from equity fundraisings tracked by Beauhurst, including both publicly announced and unannounced rounds, and is up to date as of 28 July 2026.
Deal counts record how many rounds a fund took part in. Investment figures record the combined value of those rounds. A fund credited with £1b of investment took part in rounds worth £1b in total; the figure doesn’t isolate what that fund itself contributed. A round with several investors counts the full value against each of them.

Activity is concentrated in a small number of funds
The median fund has taken part in seven UK fundraisings since 2011. The mean is 24.1, and the gap between those two numbers describes the shape of the market: a small group of highly active funds sits above a long tail.
